What is Men on the Move?

Men on the Move is an innovative program uniquely designed to support activity and mobility in older men. It is run by the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University and will take place in the fall and winter of 2015. For more background information, click HERE.

What will I receive for participating?

You will receive:

  • CASH honorariums for your time!
  • FREE 3-month transit and recreation centre passes!
  • Health feedback!
  • FREE coaching from a certified fitness instructor!
  • A chance to contribute to valuable research!
  • FREE computer skills training!

What will I do in Men on the Move?

As a participant, you will:

  • Complete a survey and assessments
  • Attend a monthly seminar for 3 months
  • Work one-on-one with an activity coach to set goals
  • Learn to use an activity monitor and iPad to track key information about your health and activity

Am I eligible?

We are looking for men who are:

  • 65+ years old
  • Not regularly physically active
  • Not living in a nursing home or care facility
  • Able to communicate in English
